Cheongshim was opened in 2003. For the first 3 years, it was known as the "Western and Eastern Medicine Medical Center." Although the name has now changed, "Cheongshim" still combines modern Western medicine with traditional Korean medicine — one of the factors that attract people from all over the world. Other advantages include:
- affordable cost through cost-effective package programs;
- partnerships with various hospitals in Korea — if the center cannot provide treatment,patients are transferred to another clinic with minimal expense;
- location in a clean and scenic area near Seoul;
- Additional services for foreign patients — hotel and flight booking, transfers, interpretation, tours, and phone rental.
Cheongshim was one of the first hospitals to open an international department and work with foreign patients. In 2007, he received a governmnent award for the development of medical tourism, and in 2011, it ranked 1st in the number of international patients.
Most foreign patients seek treatment in the orthopedics and neurology departments. Other areas of focuss include oncology, gynecology, diagnostics, general surgery, and otolaryngology.
