About the clinic

The Medical Center at Konkuk University was founded in 1931 and relocated in 2005 to a new, modern building. Today, it includes:

  • 15 centers specializing in the treatment of cancers of various organs, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, shoulder, and elbow joint diseases, as well as diagnostics and rehabilitation;
  • 33 departments;
  • An 800-bed inpatient facility;
  • 450 doctors and 800 nurses on staff.

The medical center treats nearly 800,000 outpatients and more than 250,000 inpatients annually. A significant proportion of patients are foreigners, whose comfort is ensured by the International Center. Coordinators accompany patients during doctor visits and examinations, provide consultations on daily life issues — communication, transportation, currency exchange, and payments. The International Center operates on a One Stop Service principle: during the first visit, a patient receives all necessary referrals for examinations, consultations, and procedures and can begin them immediately.

Konkuk has received prestigious government awards and has repeatedly ranked first in national evaluations:

  • In 2017, the Ministry of Health granted it the status of a top-tier multidisciplinary clinic;
  • It received the certificate of a health-promoting clinic from the World Health Organization;
  • The main prizes in the Medical Korea competition were awarded to the Breast Cancer Center, Gastroenterology Center, Colorectal Cancer Center, Diagnostic Center, and the Shoulder and Elbow Joint Center.

Treatment directions
Department gastroenterology

The Centers of Gastroenterology and hepatology use the latest medical achievements to treat diseases of the digestive system.

The experience of doctors allows us to successfully treat hepatitis of various types (viral, alcoholic and drug-induced liver damage), cirrhosis, and liver cancer. The following methods are used here:

  • liver resection-removal of the affected part;
  • chemoembolization — administration of chemotherapy drugs and blockage of liver vessels — so the drug effect became local;
  • radiofrequency ablation — destruction of the tumor
  • by radio WAVES liver transplantation.

An equally important area of work is the treatment of diseases of the stomach and intestines. Inflammatory processes, malabsorption disorders, ulcers, polyps — this is not a complete list of pathologies that Konguka doctors successfully cope with.
