Facelift: general information
Facelift or facelift is performed surgically or non-surgically. Different methods have their pros and cons, which must be kept in mind when deciding on this procedure. But in any case, the principle is always the same: to "lift" the skin to get rid of wrinkles and make the oval of the face more neat.
Facelift without surgery
Facial rejuvenation is possible with the help of massage, injections of fillers and hardware cosmetology. Massages and masks are the most gentle method, but the result is not immediate and will appear after several sessions.
- Ultrasonic SMAS lifting using Doublo, Shurink or Ulthera devices tightens not only the skin, but also the superficial muscle layer. Thanks to this, the result of facelifting looks natural, and the skin does not feel tight.
- Fraxel is a laser treatment that removes wrinkles, age spots and other defects.
- During the "Thermage", the cosmetologist acts directly on the collagen fibers, which is responsible for the elasticity of the skin. The device comes with several attachments for different parts of the body and face. The problem area is affected by a current that heats the tissues to sufficiently high temperatures. This causes the collagen fibers to contract and thicken — along with them, the skin tightens, and the effect is fixed for a long time.
Injectable methods, such as Rejuran fillers or the introduction of hyaluronic acid, do not directly tighten the skin, but they help to heal and rejuvenate it.
How much each of the methods costs is decided individually during consultations. The total amount depends on the amount of intervention and the number of sessions. Approximate prices:
- Doublo and Shurink can cost 500-600 $, about the same prices for Fraxel,
- extremely effective Ulthera — from the same 500 to 3000-4000 $,
- "Termage" — about 1400 $.
Plastic Facelift surgery
Surgical methods are more radical — with all the appropriate limitations and risks — but the effect is more pronounced. Such a lifting can no longer be done in a cosmetology clinic — you need to go to a surgeon.
Types of anti-aging plastic surgery:
- Thread lifting is the implantation of threads through an incision along the hairline. They tighten the middle and lower parts of the face, without visible seams and scars. Sometimes they are made of 99% gold, which does not tear, does not cause allergies and stimulates the production of collagen;
- Endoscopic — a thin endoscope is inserted through a small incision in the scalp. With it, the doctor fixes the endotines, tiny plates with hooks that hold the skin in the right position.;
- SMAS lifting is the tightening of skin and muscles, only not with ultrasound, but surgically. Incisions are made at the temples and behind the ears.
As a rule, the cost of the operation already includes hospitalization for 1 day (rarely more). After surgery, you will have to wear a bandage for some time, and there may be swelling and bruising on your face that will disappear within a few days. For a couple of weeks, you will need to limit your diet to soups, mashed potatoes and porridges, and avoid visits to the dentist.
When should I do a facelift
The main and only indication is age—related changes. Wrinkles on the face and neck, changes in the oval of the face, and a "tired look" due to drooping corners of the eyes and lips are common at any age. But if young people can help the skin with non-surgical methods, then at an older age it may be worth considering surgery.
The doctor will tell you more about it — after the examination, he will recommend the most effective method of rejuvenation. At the same time, he will introduce prices and tell you what the cost of facelifting depends on.
