How to arrange a trip for medical treatment abroad
Medical tourism is a destination that is becoming increasingly popular among CIS citizens. More and more people today want to go abroad to receive qualified medical care, diagnosis or clarification of the diagnosis. Often, a trip abroad is the only chance for patients who are considered "hopeless" by Russian doctors.
How to arrange a trip
There are 2 options for organizing a trip abroad for medical treatment.:
- You look for a clinic yourself, contact its specialists, agree on the date of arrival and think over the logistics.
- You contact the medical tourism agency and trust it to solve all organizational issues.
If you have no experience in organizing such trips, the second option is preferable. The agency employs experienced specialists who will advise the clinic based on the diagnosis, your wishes and financial capabilities. They will also accompany your every step until you return home.
Which country should I choose for treatment
Most often, patients choose Germany and Israel. However, the agency can also offer other countries. Their clinics are less popular with patients, but they are not inferior in quality of medical care to their more developed neighbors.
These are the countries:
- Turkey – about 750 thousand foreign patients come here for treatment every year. Many clinics have international accreditation, which guarantees the safety and effectiveness of treatment. The best medical centers: Medipol Hospital, Liv Hospital.
- The Czech Republic – by its example, the country has proved that high-quality medical care in Europe can be quite financially affordable. Treatment here is cheaper than in Germany by 30-40%. Popular clinics: St. Edislava Hospital, Malvazinka Clinic.
- Spain – as a center of medical tourism, the country has recently become increasingly popular. Many world-renowned specialists work in her clinics. Top clinics: MC Teknon, Chiron Hospital Barcelona.
In these countries, oncology, neurology, diseases of the genitourinary system are successfully treated, and complex surgical operations are performed.
What documents are required
After agreeing on the arrival date with the clinic, you must wait for her official invitation, which will give you the right to obtain a visa. With this invitation, you need to contact the embassy of the state and collect a package of documents. Each State offers its own specific list.
But in any case, you will need:
- passport:
- income information. If the treatment is paid for by another person, and not by the patient, it is necessary to formalize a sponsorship agreement.;
- certificate from the place of work (study) or pension certificate;
- medical documentation translated into English or the language of the country where you are going for treatment.
It often takes quite a long time to apply for a visa on your own. By contacting a specialized agency, you will significantly speed up the travel time, save your time and money.
