Laparoscopy of uterine fibroids

Uterine fibroids are cancers in which a benign tumor forms on the wall or cervix of the uterus. The beginnings of a neoplasm are formed in the muscular structures of the organ for a number of reasons. Among them are gynecological dysfunctions, menstruation, and various inflammatory processes. Regardless of the specific cause, uterine fibroids very often have to be removed.

Laparoscopy is one of the safest and most effective ways to surgically remove uterine fibroids. This technique is minimally invasive, i.e. damage to healthy tissues during surgery is minimal. The low cost of laparoscopy of uterine fibroids is another advantage of this type of surgery.

Technology of laparoscopy of uterine fibroids

Laparoscopy of uterine fibroids does not require abdominal incision. The undoubted advantage of laparoscopy is the operation through small (about 10 mm) punctures in the abdominal cavity. There are three such punctures in total. The operation includes several stages:

  • the abdominal area of the patient is filled with carbon dioxide. This is necessary to expand the operated area – thus, the surgeon will have a large area for his fine work.;
  • A laparoscope is inserted into the operated area through a puncture in the navel, a thin metal tube through which a video camera is guided to the fibroid. This allows the surgeon to see where it is better to perform the other two punctures for microsurgical instruments;
  • The surgeon inserts microsurgical instruments and excises the tumor.

Laparoscopy is also an effective diagnostic method, as it allows you to place a miniature video camera in the required area and visualize the pathology, accurately determine its size. So diagnosis is another area of effective use of laparoscopy of uterine fibroids. The price of the examination, as in the case of surgery, is affordable.

Advantages of laparoscopy of uterine fibroids

The unique laparoscopy method has a number of features that make it the optimal way to combat uterine fibroids.:

  • low invasiveness. Punctures heal quickly, and the scars they leave are almost invisible.;
  • quick rehabilitation. It usually takes three days to fully recover and go home.;
  • minor bleeding during surgery;
  • absence of significant pain after surgery. This eliminates the need to take strong painkillers.;
  • there is no need for bed rest.

Laparoscopy of uterine fibroids: how much does it cost?

As a rule, the main problem when choosing a treatment method is the high price. However, the cost of laparoscopic surgery to remove the uterus is affordable. Despite the fact that the disease is oncological, its treatment with this method does not require large financial expenses. And this is one of the main benefits, given the large number of other benefits provided by laparoscopy of uterine fibroids. The cost of the procedure depends on whether you are going to have a diagnosis or surgery to remove fibroids. In general, the cost of laparoscopy of uterine fibroids in Moscow and other large centers of Russian medicine varies between 50-100 thousand rubles.
