Features of Chinese medicine

Despite the existence of the communist regime, Chinese medicine was inaccessible to the entire population for a long time. But the healthcare reforms initiated in the early 2000s have significantly improved the situation. And today, any resident of the country can use medical services.

Thanks to the positive changes, China has also been able to gain the trust of foreign patients and has now taken one of the leading positions in global medical tourism.

What is treated in China

Chinese clinics use the latest achievements of world medicine. New drugs, treatments, and equipment are undergoing clinical trials and, if approved, begin to be put into practice immediately. Thanks to this approach, specialists successfully cope with the most complex diseases.

Developed at a high level:

  • treatment of blood vessels and the heart, including surgical methods;
  • therapy of neurological diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, joint pathologies;
  • dentistry;
  • treatment of oncological pathologies;
  • plastic surgery and cosmetology

Many patients are also attracted to oriental medicine, the effectiveness of which has already been proven by European experts.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

The history of TCM goes back more than 3,000 years. The methods described in ancient sources are still successfully used today for treatment, rehabilitation after illnesses and injuries, and general wellness. In many clinics, they are used on a par with modern methods of therapy.

The most popular are:

  • 1. Vacuum therapy is a massage with cans. It strengthens the immune system. The procedure improves blood circulation and metabolism, removes swelling.
  • 2. Acupuncture and moxibustion – during treatment, the doctor affects the active points, each of which is associated with a specific organ. Manipulation relieves pain and cramps.
  • 3. Massage – There are many Chinese massage techniques. The procedure has an effect on tissues and blood circulation. Massage is effective for swelling, pain, and inflammatory processes.

In most cases, a combination of several complementary methods is used.

Features of the Chinese healthcare system

There are both public and private clinics in China. But all of them are controlled by the state. And after the reform carried out in 2003 and the introduction of insurance medicine, there are practically no differences in services.

Foreign patients have the same right to treatment as Chinese citizens. If you have an insurance policy, medical care is provided free of charge. In all other cases – on a paid basis.

But not all medical institutions accept foreign patients. But only those who can provide decent service, including translation services. Therefore, before traveling, it is necessary to collect as much information as possible to be sure that the clinic meets all the requirements and its specialists are sufficiently qualified.
