Prolapse of the uterus
Prolapse of the uterus is a violation of its position, during which the organ descends down to the vagina or exits it completely.
This pathology is most often observed in women over 50 years of age. The symptoms of uterine prolapse are quite specific. The patient usually feels discomfort, pain, and difficulty urinating. Atypical discharge also appears. Treatment of uterine prolapse can be performed both without surgery and operationally. The price of treatment and surgery for uterine prolapse is calculated individually, depending on the degree of the disease, the patient's age and her general state of health.
Causes and diagnosis
The main causes of uterine prolapse include:
- muscle weakness during pregnancy;
- difficult labor;
- pelvic muscle injury;
- a tumor of the reproductive system;
- excess weight;
- neurological diseases;
- chronic cough and constipation.
It is not difficult for an experienced doctor to recognize a prolapse of the uterus. First, an anamnesis is collected, then the patient is examined, and additional diagnostic methods are prescribed.
The main way to detect this type of disease is a two—handed gynecological examination. It helps to determine how much the uterus has changed position, as well as to determine the presence of defects in the pelvic floor muscles.
In addition, the patient is prescribed an ultrasound examination of the uterus to determine the extent of surgery, colposcopy and magnetic resonance imaging are performed.
Treatment
Uterine prolapse is usually easy to treat, especially if the disease has been diagnosed in the early stages.
To identify the most appropriate treatment method, a full examination of the patient is carried out, which makes it possible to determine any complications: menstrual cycle failure, impaired functions of the reproductive system, as well as assess her age and the need to preserve reproductive function.
In the early stages of uterine prolapse, the patient may be prescribed special therapeutic exercises, uterine massaging procedures, and the use of certain medications.
In the event that these methods do not help, doctors are forced to think about more radical treatment. For example, thanks to surgical intervention, it is possible to reduce and strengthen the ligaments holding the uterus and return it to its natural position. If the patient has cancer and other serious diseases in addition to prolapse, she is referred for hysterectomy — removal of the uterus. The cost of surgery for uterine prolapse depends on the type of intervention and is calculated separately for each patient.
