Survival rate for uterine cancer

Survival is the time during which, after cancer treatment, patients are in remission, without cases of recurrence of a malignant tumor. Modern medicine measures survival over five-year periods. During this time, doctors monitor mortality rates and calculate the survival rate.

Survival rate in uterine cancer

In case of uterine cancer, the prognosis of survival depends on the stage at which the cancer was detected, the treatment methods used and the age of the patient.

In cervical cancer, the survival rate, if detected at the first and second stages, reaches 95% within five years. Survival rates after treatment of cervical cancer of the third and fourth stages are no more than 30%.

The five-year survival rate for uterine cancer after treatment in the first and second stages of the disease is 50-85%. However, with the development of the disease to the third and fourth stages and the formation of metastases in the lymph nodes and internal organs, the survival rate is no more than 15%.

In uterine sarcoma, the prognosis of survival, as in other types of cancer, depends on the stage of development of the disease. It should be noted that this disease develops in the connective tissue and muscle fibers of the uterus. Doctors call sarcoma a "mute tumor" because it does not show symptoms even in the last stage. In the case of diagnosis of this disease in the early stages of development, the survival rate is statistically estimated at 44-47%. When metastases appear, the survival rate is reduced to 10%.

Cancer recurrence survival rate

Unfortunately, oncological diseases can reoccur even after treatment. This phenomenon is called a relapse of the disease. Unfortunately, the survival rate in case of recurrence of uterine cancer is very low and ranges from 10% with the spread of metastases and 27% with early detection of the recurrence of a malignant tumor.
