“Bundang CHA” is the first multidisciplinary medical center opened in the Bundang district of the city of Seongnam. The city is a southern satellite of Seoul, so it is easy to reach.
This is not just a medical center—it is the flagship of a large biomedical conglomerate that includes: 9 clinics in Korea, 3 clinics abroad, a medical university, 2 research institutes, 9 pharmaceutical and medical companies, and a cord blood bank. Bundang CHA itself is endowed with impressive in-house resources:
-
13 centers specializing in oncology, organ transplantation, robotic surgery, women’s and children’s health, and more;
-
its own production of stem cell–based medications;
-
a research laboratory where scientists study cell therapy and apply the acquired knowledge in clinical practice.
The center has been included in the list compiled by the Ministry of Health of hospitals with the highest research potential. Bundang CHA conducts active scientific work in the fields of ophthalmology, orthopedics, and neurology.
In addition, it has received an award for rigorous quality control and a patient-centered approach. This is not surprising, as Bundang CHA was originally designed with patient needs in mind: before construction began, a survey was conducted among local residents to find out what they most wanted to see in a new medical center. For patient convenience, in addition to medical departments, the clinic campus includes a bank, a shop, a pharmacy, and several cafés.
