Samsung Medical Center opened in 1994 and has since become one of the best medical institutions in Korea.

• Since 1996, it has held the title of a Hospital of Presidential Standards.
• The leader in the number of clinical trials conducted in Korea.
• The official clinic of the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
• Performed the 1st liver transplant for a 3-month-old infant in the country.
• In 2016, a team of doctors successfully saved a patient from Dubai who was admitted to the clinic in a coma caused by severe, rapidly progressing liver failure. Thanks to the work of Samsung's gastroenterologists, the patient's condition was stabilized without a liver transplant.

More than 6,000 employees work in 40 departments and 10 specialized centers, 1,200 of them are doctors. Surgeries are performed in 52 modern and high-tech operating rooms, and patients are accommodated in a large inpatient facility with 1,982 beds.

Scientific research is an integral part of the clinic's work. Achievements include the development of proprietary therapy methods, the discovery of several genetic disorders and the elucidation of the mechanism hormone mitokine, which plays a key role in the development of diabetes.

Samsung offers 24/7 coordinator support and translation services to foreign patients. Patients have access to channels and magazines in their native language, Internet, and customizable meal options.
