Founded in 1932 as a shelter for children with disabilities, the institution evolved into a full-scale research institute by 1963, including a physiology laboratory, inpatient facilities, and a rehabilitation unit. Today, the hospital occupies 5,000 square meters and has an inpatient capacity of 500 beds. The campus includes nine high-tech operating rooms, intensive care units, resuscitation wards, and consultative-diagnostic departments.

The professional staff consists of highly qualified physicians. More than 60% are Candidates and Doctors of Medical Sciences, professors, academicians, and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Their expertise and experience have earned the institute an outstanding international reputation.

Each year, more than 6,000 surgical procedures are performed in the institute’s operating departments, aimed at restoring normal musculoskeletal function in children.

Surgeries are performed for:

  • Fractures of various localizations

  • Limb deformities

  • Scoliosis

  • Congenital spinal pathologies

  • Pathological and congenital hip dislocations

  • Traumatic brain injuries

  • Poliomyelitis and its consequences

  • Rheumatoid arthritis

  • Joint injuries

The center also includes a restorative medicine department, where comprehensive rehabilitation programs are conducted, including for children with cerebral palsy.
