Polish–American Heart Clinics are a group of specialized medical centers providing cardiology and cardiac surgery services to patients of various age groups. The network comprises 20 facilities, the main one of which is located in the city of Katowice. The hospitals have been established since 2000 through the joint efforts of experienced physicians from Poland and the United States. All facilities operate 24 hours a day, admitting patients both for scheduled treatment and in emergency situations.
The key achievement of the Polish–American Heart Clinics is the reduction in mortality associated with myocardial infarctions and other critical cardiac conditions from 30% to 3%. In 2011, the first hybrid operating theaters and interventional cardiac surgery units began operating, enabling physicians to perform unique procedures using innovative protocols. These include minimally invasive and microsurgical interventions on the cardiovascular system under the guidance of video navigation and robotic systems.
Upon admission, patients are offered comprehensive diagnostic programs that include laboratory testing, multislice CT of the beating heart, MR angiography, radionuclide imaging, Holter monitoring, ECG, exercise stress testing, and other procedures. This approach allows physicians to obtain exhaustive information about the current condition of the organs and to develop an individualized treatment plan. Treatment may include open-heart and closed-heart surgery, pharmacotherapy, artificial heart implantation, coronary artery bypass grafting, implantation of cardiac pacemakers, and other procedures.
Patients are accommodated in inpatient wards with enhanced comfort, designed for one to three occupants. Each room is equipped with a private bathroom and furnished in a modern style. The wards feature emergency call systems for medical staff and aids to facilitate mobility for patients with disabilities. Meals are provided on a full-board basis, taking into account individual preferences and the recommendations of the attending physician.
