Installing a veneer
Veneers are thin porcelain or composite plates that are attached to the front surface of teeth to enhance their appearance. They are used to fix various cosmetic problems such as:
- Chips
- Cracks
- Coloring
- Alignment of teeth
- Correction of irregular teeth shape
The veneers installation procedure usually takes several visits to the dentist:
1. Consultation and planning
- The dentist will examine your teeth and discuss your goals and expectations with you.
- X-rays and dental casts will be taken to create customized veneers.
2. Dental preparation
- The surface of the teeth is slightly ground to create a place for veneers.
- A temporary impression is made, and temporary veneers are made.
3. Manufacture of veneers
- The casts are sent to a laboratory where permanent veneers are made.
- It takes about 2-4 weeks to manufacture.
4. Fitting and cementing veneers
- When the veneers are ready, the dentist tries them on and checks the fit.
- The veneers are then firmly cemented to the teeth.
After installing the veneers:
- Veneers require special care to preserve them for a long time.
- The dentist will give you instructions on how to clean and care for them properly.
- Avoid chewing hard or sticky food, as this can damage the veneers.
- Visit your dentist regularly for checkups and cleanings.
