Fatness

Over the past few years, Russians have been diagnosed with obesity twice as often.  The problem with excess weight is not only that it negatively affects a person's appearance. Obesity leads to consequences such as cardiovascular and endocrine diseases, nervous disorders, diabetes, and blood pressure problems.

The treatment of obesity abroad is becoming increasingly popular.   Israel, Germany, India — these countries successfully help people with overweight problems.

 Methods of obesity treatment abroad

There are three main methods of treating obesity abroad:

  • non—medicinal - the patient assumes the main degree of responsibility. This technique involves avoiding fats and high-calorie foods, physical activity.;
  • medical — weight loss occurs with the use of special medications. They boost metabolism, help the body get back to normal, and reduce appetite. This method of treatment is contraindicated in the elderly, children, pregnant women and nursing mothers.;
  • surgical — is prescribed only if the first two methods have not brought any effect.  It is recommended for patients with an excess body weight of more than 45 kg and a body mass index of less than 40 kg/sq. m. The type of surgery is determined taking into account the individual characteristics of the patient.

Types of surgical operations for the treatment of obesity abroad

The operations used to reduce body weight are called bariatric and are performed using minimally invasive methods. This allows you to avoid scars and complications, and reduce the rehabilitation period.  The main types of bariatric surgery:

  • bandaging — a special bandage is applied around the upper part of the stomach, creating a small reservoir. It allows you to thoroughly reduce the amount of food you eat and get saturated faster.  The continuity of the digestive tract is preserved.  The operation is well tolerated.  Rehabilitation does not exceed three days;
  • Sleeve gastroplasty is the formation of a new sleeve—shaped stomach by removing most of it.  After such an intervention, the stomach is able to take in very small amounts of food. At the same time, a person gets saturated faster.;
  • Bypass surgery is a reduction in the volume of the stomach to 20-50 ml by applying titanium clips to it. As well as the reconstruction of the small intestine to reduce the absorption of food.  It is used for severe forms of obesity. The rehabilitation period is about a week;
  • intragastric balloon — a thin-walled rubber bubble filled with water is installed inside the stomach.  It occupies a significant part of the lumen of the stomach, which reduces the amount of food consumed. Such a balloon should stay in the stomach for no more than 6 months;
  • Endoluminal surgery is a new type of obesity treatment abroad.  It represents a reduction of the stomach through the mouth. With the help of special staples, a narrow passage is created in the stomach, helping patients to eat less and saturate faster. The procedure is absolutely safe, does not leave scars and postoperative pain.
