Charité Clinic is one of the oldest, most distinguished, and most prestigious university hospital complexes in Europe, with a history that began in Berlin in 1710. Initially, the facility treated patients with plague. From its inception, the institution has been characterized by staff with impeccable reputations, high-quality service, and the application of advanced technologies. The clinic has been repeatedly certified and accredited by demanding organizations such as ISO, KTQ, TÜV, JCI, and others.

The current structure of the clinic includes:

  • 17 outpatient and inpatient departments

  • Hundreds of institutes, specialized departments, and interdisciplinary units

  • 3,500 inpatient beds

The professional staff numbers 13,000 qualified specialists, including 4,000 physicians and scientists—Candidates of Sciences, Doctors of Sciences, and professors of medical sciences. Many of them are recipients of Nobel Prizes and other prestigious awards. The team works closely with leading institutes and academies worldwide, enabling the implementation and continuous improvement of innovative technologies in clinical practice. In addition, Charité researchers independently develop experimental medications, procedures, and technologies that advance medicine to fundamentally new levels.

Each year, more than 220,000 patients, including international patients, receive treatment at the clinic. Unique, life-saving procedures are performed here, including minimally invasive correction of congenital heart defects, interventional cardiovascular surgeries, robot-assisted tumor resections, laparoscopic extirpation of affected organs, transplants, and many other complex interventions.

Alongside conventional treatment, Charité Clinic offers experimental procedures for patients who have been refused treatment at other hospitals. Significant attention is devoted to palliative care—local physicians are highly skilled in ensuring maximum comfort and improving the quality of life of incurable patients. The institution implements highly effective rehabilitation programs designed to consolidate and prolong treatment outcomes and to protect patients from relapse.
