Seoul National University Hospital was established nearly 130 years ago as the first government Western-style clinic in Korea. Today, it is one of the country’s largest medical institutions:

The hospital has pioneered many procedures nationally and internationally, including the first laparoscopic right-lobe donor liver resection, the first multi-catheter cerebral vessel embolization, and more. It also ranks first in patient care quality, achieving world-leading 5- and 10-year survival rates for stomach, intestinal, and lung cancer.
The hospital actively collaborates internationally and treats foreign patients:
- Responsible for medical management at Sheikh Khalifa Royal Medical Center (UAE) and Yanji Hospital (China)
- Implemented IT systems in six clinics in Saudi Arabia
- Receives over 30,000 patients annually from 80 countries
- Collaborates with the Moscow Department of Health
- Provides medical consultations to tourists
It was the first hospital in the world to develop and implement an electronic medical information system and actively shares its experience with international colleagues.
Since 1999, the International Department has cared for foreign patients. Translators are available in several languages, including Russian, and coordinators work with embassies and international insurance companies to assist with financial and legal matters.
