Arthritis

Arthritis is an inflammation of the joints. It can be an independent disease or a symptom of a systemic pathology. The most common forms of arthritis are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. They are characterized by pain and swelling in the joints. Some types of arthritis, such as rheumatoid, are autoimmune in nature, meaning the lesion can spread to other organs.

Treatment is aimed at reducing pain, reducing joint damage and improving the quality of life. Usually, patients with arthritis are prescribed a combination of medications and physical therapy. If medications do not work properly, the doctor may recommend an endoprosthesis. Treatment of arthritis abroad includes advanced conservative (injection of gold into the joint, biological preparations) and surgical methods (minimally invasive arthroplasty).

Non-surgical treatment of arthritis abroad

Medical treatment of arteritis includes nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which can be supplemented with:

  • anti-cancer drugs like Methotrexate, which stop cell division in synovial fluid;
  • in autoimmune diseases, drugs that suppress the immune system;
  • cytokine inhibitors.  This is a new way to treat arthritis by blocking the production of cytokines that activate the immune system. These drugs are now available in hospitals abroad as part of clinical trials.

Surgical treatment of arthritis abroad

If necessary, prosthetics abroad use modern implants made of cobalt-chromium and titanium alloys in large joints and polymer compounds in small structures (fingers). These devices are durable, do not provoke an attack from the immune system and do not displace surrounding tissues from their normal position.

New hip implants are coated with hydroxylapatite (calcium phosphate), which interacts with the bone for better fixation. Prosthetics for fingers, wrists and legs have a flexible hinge, providing a natural range of motion. The endoprosthetics procedure itself is performed using a robotic system through small incisions.

Treatment of arthritis with traditional Chinese medicine

Clinics in China help patients with arthritis to relieve pain and relieve joints through herbal medicine, acupuncture, tai chi exercises and massage. Medicines based on herbs, minerals and animal components are selected and prepared according to an individual prescription for each patient.
