Founded in 1995 with the support of the American Medical Association by physicians practicing in the United States, the hospital was established to deliver advanced medical care in China. The initiative was also supported by the leading Tiantan Neurosurgical Hospital. In 2005, the institution became independent and focused on comprehensive services in neurology and neurosurgery.
