Basal cell carcinoma

Basal cell carcinoma (basal cell carcinoma) is the most common type of skin cancer (about 80%). The tumor often appears as painless changes on the skin: a small area becomes shiny with a pronounced network of blood vessels or ulcers. Basal cell carcinoma grows slowly and rarely spreads to distant organs.

Treatment of basal cell carcinoma is usually performed by surgical removal. If the tumor is small, conventional curette scraping is used. In case of a large neoplasm, Mohs surgery is recommended. Depending on the size of the basal cell carcinoma, prices for surgery may vary. In rare cases, when cancer spreads to other organs, chemotherapy or targeted therapy is performed.

Examination before treatment of basal cell carcinoma abroad

If the doctor finds a basal cell carcinoma during a physical examination of the patient, the diagnosis is confirmed by a biopsy. The tissue sample is removed and sent to the laboratory. If tumor cells are present, treatment is required.

Surgical treatment of basal cell carcinoma abroad

The choice of surgery method is based on the type, size and depth of tumor penetration, age and general health of the patient. Also, depending on the location of the basal cell carcinoma, the requirements of the appearance of the skin after recovery are taken into account.

Treatment of basal cell carcinoma abroad is performed on an outpatient basis, sometimes under local anesthesia. Based on the doctor's recommendations, the following methods are used.

  • Electrocoagulation and curettage. The growth is removed with a sharp instrument (curette), and then dried with an electrocoagulation needle. When choosing this method of basal cell carcinoma removal, the cost of surgery will depend on the number of procedures required for full recovery.
  • Photodynamic therapy. A light sensitizing agent is injected into the problem area of the skin, which accumulates in the cancerous tissue. Then the drug is activated by blue light and begins to destroy tumor cells from the inside.
  • Cryodestruction. The basal cell is frozen with liquid nitrogen using an applicator or spray gun. Anesthesia is not required during the procedure.  The price of removing basal cell carcinoma using cryosurgery is considered the most affordable relative to the cost of other modern methods.
  • Mohs micrographic surgery. At the site of the tumor, the skin is removed in thin layers, each of which is checked for cancer cells under a microscope during the procedure. If cancer is present in the cut tissue, the surgeon cuts off the thin layer again where the cancer cells are found. This type of surgery is preferred for treating tumors in cosmetically important areas, as it can save the most healthy tissue.

At a low price, it is possible to remove basal cell carcinoma using modern methods in clinics in India, Korea, China and Turkey.

Non-surgical treatment of basal cell carcinoma abroad

If the basal cell carcinoma is difficult to remove surgically, doctors in foreign clinics use X-rays that are directed through the skin to the tumor (without the need for incisions or anesthesia). Several procedures are usually required to completely destroy the neoplasm. Creams, gels, or solutions may be prescribed for the treatment of small basal cell carcinomas.
