How cryotherapy is performed abroad
During external cryotherapy, liquid nitrogen is applied to the affected area with a swab or sprayed, and the patient returns home on the same day. In case of cancer of internal organs and bones, substances are injected into the tumor using a special cryoprobe tube, sometimes hospitalization for 1-3 days is required. After freezing, the tumor is heated with helium or other gas. 2-3 such cycles of freezing and thawing are carried out, as a result of which the tumor collapses. After the procedure, the doctor gives recommendations on how to care for the treated surface and draws up a schedule of examinations.
It is used in the treatment of sarcomas, cancer and precancerous conditions of the skin, liver, prostate, breast, liver, kidneys, intestines and other organs.
Advantages of cryosurgery abroad
- There are few side effects compared to traditional surgery and radiation. In bone cancer, cryotherapy reduces the risk of amputation and joint damage, and is preferable for the elderly and patients who are contraindicated for surgical intervention.
- Local effects: during cryotherapy, neighboring healthy tissues and organs are not affected, and blood vessels are not damaged.
- Rapid recovery: the tumor is treated within a few minutes, and the patient can go home immediately after the procedure.
- Low cost: from $2,000 to $5,000 per course, depending on the type of disease. External cryotherapy is cheaper than internal.
- Effectiveness: prostate cancer is amenable to cryotherapy in 80-90% of cases, and recurrent tumors are destroyed by freezing in 60% of cases. Cryotherapy reduces the risk of metastasis.
