Stomach cancer is the fifth most common malignant disease worldwide and the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths. The most common subtype of the disease is adenocarcinoma (90-95% of all cases). Early symptoms of cancer include heartburn, persistent indigestion, and difficulty swallowing.

Methods of treating stomach cancer abroad

Treatment of stomach cancer abroad begins with diagnosis. At an early stage of the disease, the patient will be asked to remove the tumor and surrounding lymph nodes. At a later stage, treatment may include chemotherapy and radiation therapy to reduce the size of the neoplasm and prepare for surgery, radiosurgery. 

Minimally invasive surgery

In Israel, Germany, Korea and a number of other countries, gastric cancer is removed using a robotic procedure or endoscopy. This high-precision technology allows you to cut out the tumor through tiny incisions. Recovery after such an operation is faster, the patient experiences less pain and discomfort.

Surgeons' priority is to maximize the preservation of the organ and its function. Minimally invasive and accurate determination of the lesion volume make it possible to minimize intervention. 

Targeted therapy

Hospitals in Germany and Japan are using the latest technology to identify the genetic vulnerability of cancer cells. Based on these data, they select medications individually for the patient, thereby slowing or stopping the growth of the neoplasm with minimal side effects. 

In Israel, molecular profiles of tumors are compiled for patients with stage 4 gastric cancer. This allows you to create an immunotherapy program that is best suited to treat each patient's specific case. 

Radiation therapy

Radiation therapy destroys the stomach tumor by exposure to ionizing radiation. Large clinics in Germany, Korea, and Israel offer advanced approaches that target exclusively cancer cells and barely affect healthy tissues.

  • Intensive modulated radiation therapy and radiation using imaging during surgery ensure that radiation accurately enters the tumor, keeping the surrounding normal tissue healthy.
  • Positron emission tomography (PET) and computed tomography (CT) provide high-resolution imaging that helps determine the location of a tumor without missing even the slightest detail. PET also provides an opportunity to track the effectiveness of therapy and detect metastases. 
  • Gamma knife and Cyber knife - non—surgical destruction of neoplasms using radiation directed at it. The precision and high intensity of the exposure make it possible to remove tumors much faster than with traditional radiation therapy, in just a few sessions. 

Other methods

There are new ways to remove tumors by exposure to high and low temperatures, ultrasound. Like radiosurgery, these methods target the pathological focus without damaging the surrounding tissues, blood vessels and nerves. This way, treatment and rehabilitation are quick and comfortable for the patient.
