Glaucoma

Glaucoma is an eye disease caused by increased intraocular pressure. Because of this, the optic nerve gradually atrophies, and the eye begins to go blind. If timely care is not provided, glaucoma will lead to irreversible blindness.

 The optimal solution is to treat glaucoma abroad. Foreign clinics provide both advanced diagnostics and high-tech treatment methods.

Diagnosis of glaucoma abroad

To diagnose glaucoma, it is necessary to measure the patient's intraocular pressure. Very often, contact tonometry is used for this purpose — a small metal cylinder (tonometer) moistened with special paint is placed on the eye. Then the print of the tonometer is left on the paper, using which the necessary measurements are carried out.

However, when treating glaucoma abroad, innovative hardware diagnostic methods are used, which are more convenient and effective.:

  • Computer perimetry is the measurement of the boundaries and defects of the visual field. During the examination, the patient needs to focus on one point on the computer screen. If a spot appears on this point, the patient signals this by pressing a button;
  • Gonioscopy is an examination of the angle of the anterior chamber of the eye, which makes it possible to determine the nature of the outflow of ocular fluid, which directly affects intraocular pressure;
  • Optical coherence tomography is an examination of eye tissue using infrared radiation;
  • Ultrasound examination of the eye allows you to visualize all the anatomical structures of the eye and determine the nature of glaucoma.

The methods are good both for diagnosing the disease and for preventive research. If the disease is detected, foreign clinics offer both surgical and non-surgical treatment.

Medical treatment of glaucoma abroad

Intensive and systematic treatment of glaucoma with medications. Medical treatment of glaucoma abroad is relevant for the early stages of the disease and includes three areas::

  •  reduction of intraocular pressure;
  •  improvement of intraocular blood supply;
  •  normalization of metabolic processes in eye tissues.

Successful therapy makes it possible to influence the dystrophic processes that cause the development of glaucoma.

Surgical treatment of glaucoma

Surgical intervention is often necessary for effective treatment of glaucoma abroad. Foreign specialists resort to trabeculoplasty, which can be of two types:

Microsurgical trabeculoplasty consists in removing a clogged area from the outflow system of ocular fluid. Instead, a special bubble is created through which the liquid will seep into the capillaries, which normalizes intraocular pressure.;
laser trabeculoplasty — blocked channels of outflow of ocular fluid "open" through exposure to a laser beam.
Three types of laser are used in the treatment of glaucoma abroad:

  •  Femtosecond laser — generates ultrashort pulses of radiation;
  •  excimer laser — ultraviolet gas laser;
  •  Argon laser — creates a powerful luminous flux of blue and green wavelengths.

Treatment of glaucoma abroad will allow you to quickly cope with the disease, relying on the latest technologies and proven methods.
