Vocal cord paresis is a pathological condition characterized by denervation of the muscular structures of the larynx responsible for speech sound production. As a rule, it develops against the background of provoking diseases — prolonged respiratory infections, impaired cerebral blood supply, thyroid disorders, cardiac diseases, and so on. Less often, paresis is associated with neurasthenia, chronic stress, or hysteria. Treatment of vocal cord paresis in Ulsan is carried out by experienced neurologists, otolaryngologists, and other specialists whose high competence is recognized worldwide.

Treatment is preceded by diagnostics, including throat MRI, laryngeal CT, electroneuromyography, thyroid ultrasound, laryngoscopy, and other procedures at the doctor’s discretion.

The following strategies are used in treating vocal cord paresis in Ulsan:

  • microsurgical reposition of the damaged cord,
  • thyroplasty using innovative biocompatible implants,
  • injection laryngoplasty using tissue engineering principles,
  • reinnervation with transplantation of a nerve fiber from another part of the neck.

As supportive and consolidating therapy, the following procedures may be prescribed:

  • magnetotherapy,
  • therapeutic massage,
  • reflexotherapy (acupuncture and pharmacopuncture),
  • balneotherapy,
  • electrosleep therapy,
  • electrophoresis,
  • electromyostimulation.

After the completion of treatment, a rehabilitation program is developed to consolidate the result. The patient receives advice on lifestyle correction. If the disorder was provoked by another disease, comprehensive etiotropic therapy is also necessarily performed.
