Treatment of prostate cancer in Incheon is a well-balanced, thoughtful, and effective program that makes it possible to eliminate the malignant neoplasm, prevent the spread of metastases, and optimize urogenital function. The treatment plan begins with differential diagnosis, which includes the following studies:

  • laboratory assessments of blood, urine, semen, and prostatic secretions,
  • blood test for tumor markers and PSA (prostate-specific antigen),
  • digital rectal examination of the organ,
  • radioisotope scanning of the prostate gland,
  • transrectal ultrasound of the prostate,
  • MRI of the pelvic organs,
  • CT of the peritoneum and abdominal organs,
  • biopsy of the neoplasm.

The therapeutic program is developed strictly individually, based on the obtained findings, the patient’s age, general condition, and concomitant diseases. If radical surgery is indicated, a reproductive specialist consultation and sperm cryopreservation can be provided at the patient’s request.

The treatment plan may include the following procedures:

  • open, laparoscopic, or transurethral resection of the prostate gland,
  • robot-assisted removal of the neoplasm within the pathological focus,
  • contact radiation therapy (brachytherapy),
  • external beam radiation therapy,
  • hormonal treatment,
  • biotherapy with monoclonal antibodies,
  • high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU),
  • laser therapy,
  • polychemotherapy or monochemotherapy with modern cytotoxic and cytostatic drugs.

After treatment, patients are offered a recovery program aimed at fixing the effect and normalizing urogenital function. Most men treated in the city’s clinics are able to achieve lasting remission for many years.
