Ophthalmology in hospitals China

Advantages and features of treatment in China

The majority of medical tourists visiting China for diagnosis and treatment are citizens of Western and Eastern Europe, South Korea, Canada and America. People are attracted by the Chinese doctors' focus on eliminating the causes rather than the consequences of the disease. At the same time, China does not keep to itself, but follows international innovation standards.

The key advantages of treatment in China:

  • highly qualified and professional doctors;
  • introduction of advanced technologies and treatment methods;
  • high-quality and modern equipment of clinics;
  • reasonable prices;
  • the comfort of hospital stay;
  • respectful and careful attitude on the part of the staff.

These advantages are not applicable to every medical institution in the country. Foreigners are advised to choose clinics located in provincial capitals and with a good rating.

In Chinese hospitals, patients receive the following types of care:

  • surgical resection of tumors using robotic systems, endoscopes and other advanced instruments;
  • conservative cancer therapy, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, molecular targeted therapy, CAR-t, etc.;
  • intensive modulation and 3D conformal radiotherapy;
  • radiofrequency ablation and laser vaporization of neoplasia;
  • abdominal and laparoscopic operations on abdominal organs;
  • open and endovascular surgical interventions on the heart and blood vessels;
  • bone prosthetics and bone grafting;
  • stem cell treatment;
  • stereotactic radiosurgery;
  • orthopedic treatment and rehabilitation;
  • ultrasound therapy.

In addition to traditional treatment methods, oriental medicine procedures are widely used in China.:

  • Gouache massage;
  • Herbal medicine;
  • vacuum therapy;
  • Qigong gymnastics;
  • fire treatment (Ho-liao);
  • Acupuncture and acupressure;
  • stone therapy.

Patients can purchase prescribed herbal preparations for treatment upon returning home.

The cost of medical services in Chinese clinics

The cost of medical and diagnostic procedures in Chinese clinics is lower than in Western Europe and the USA. The average prices for consultations are 40-120 dollars, the cost of a package diagnosis starts at 300 dollars, the prices for operations range from 1,500 to 20,000 dollars.

Reviews of foreign patients about treatment in China

Foreigners mostly speak positively about the services provided in Chinese clinics. People talk about the effectiveness of the procedures performed, the responsible attitude of doctors to treatment, a personal approach to each situation, the care of nurses and orderlies, and a good reception organization. After recovering or going into remission, many patients return to China to consolidate the effect with the help of Oriental practices.

By 2024, the structure of hospitals in China has changed

In recent years, several international hospital networks (American, Singaporean, and Indian) have entered China. They have opened their branches, full-fledged multidisciplinary hospitals in major Chinese cities such as Beijing and Shanghai. Therefore, the offer on the Chinese hospital market has expanded significantly and, accordingly, we, as foreign patients, now have access to a wider range of medical destinations and clinics.

Currently, Chinese medicine is being almost completely modernized.

In Beijing, for example, they began to build not just hospitals, but health cities with territories of more than 50 hectares. This became possible only when it was decided to build hospitals not in the center, but outside of Beijing.

In 2020-2023, many hospitals were built in this way: with a separate dedicated territory, with their own hotels, parks and all the infrastructure.

This made it possible to significantly distribute the patient flow and support the development of specialized hospitals.
